Bran (Draculas's Castle), Romania

Caught an early bus from Brasov to Bran to see the famed Dracula Castle. The trip took approximately 40 minutes. We travelled through some farm land and small villages. There were shephards & sheep flocks along the way.  Upon arrival in Bran one could quickly see how touristy the place was. Dracula would be proud!!

Kiosks were everywhere, selling souveniors, sheep wool items & traditional Roman clothing. There were also a fair amount of stands selling local cheese & meats.

Cheese & meats

There was a long cobblestone walkway leading up to Dracula's Castle.

The castle was nice but nothing spectacular. It was modern for its time, many fireplaces with venting throughout each room!  Here are a few of these fireplaces.

History of the castle & Dracula was supplied in 3 languages on wall plaques throughout the castle.  I took the tour through the castle and then wandered back down.

Cool door knocker!

Count Dracula known as Vlad Tepes was born in Sighisoara, Romania.

This town is north of Brasov.

Wishing well

Like all the other castles I have seen the view was great!

After that I stopped in town for some lunch, which was right by souvenior stands.  Souveniors from various stands were calling me to be looked at!

It started raining while I was in the restaurant and showed now signs of letting up. I had planned to stop in a town called Resnov. There is a walled fortress around around a church on a hill, the only way in is on foot. The road is dirt & gravel and with the weather conditions it would of been a little wet and mucky. Needless to say I decided against the hike to this fortress.
I headed back to Brasov nice and dry, enjoying the countryside around me.
