Maribor, Slovenia

Took the IC train from Wiener Neustadt, Austria to Maribor, Slovenia, a 3 hour journey. Gorgeous scenery along the way, of course its all beautiful! Quaint little villages set in the valleys and up on hillstops. Just like you see in magazines, flowered balconies and red rooftops, a contrast to the green lush meadows (forgot to take pics, I was so busy looking outside!)

Approaching the city was a sight, the red roof tops, three bridges spanning the river Drava. A flock of white swans were enoying a swim, with one or two taking a dive.

Arriving in Maribor it took me a bit to find my hostel. At the tourist info they highlited area on the right, actually I was to go left. Not much longer I found Hostel Perkarna.

The place was a former bakery, used during the war to supply bread & such to the barracks nearby. The hostel was newly renovated, nice and spacious and super clean! The staff so helpful and every type of brochure available for all kinds of tourists. Breakfast was not included however you had full use of kitchen. There were even 2 built in microwaves! Originally I had thought the place was on the river bank, no near the river bank, close to the train tracks! That was the only downfall, but I had earplugs so it was all good and had a great nights sleep. A rock n roll band checked in the next day, not sure who they were, but no jam sessions were goin on! If so could of been a rival between them and the train noise.
