Zagreb, Croatia

Left Plitvice Lakes National Park in the wee hours of the morning to catch a bus to Zagreb, Croatia. Man it was cold, frost everywhere.  Good thing we had been at the park yesterday as it sure seemed colder today. Keld flown into  this city from Denmark 4 weeks earlier.

Keld had a Danish guide book and had not seen all the sights when he first arrived. He offered to be tour guide and show me some of Zagreb highlights as I was leaving the next morning to Romania, via Hungary.  We started out at the main square, working our way to the cathedral, which was having restoration work done.

Jelacica Square

We walked by the Town Hall, another older church from the 1200's  and another with a very colorful roof, Keld relaying history info from his guide book as we went along.

We then headed to the direction of the funicular, taking the short ride up to enjoy the city view.

Later we hiked back down to the main square, stopping to visit the market. There were so many fruit displays with oranges intricately piled high. The vendor said it took him almost 2 hours to arrange the display. Heaven forbid anyone knocking it over!!

Flower stands were so vibrant with color!. I couldn't believe all the flowers at this of the year. The city crews were planting pansies in the blvd beds!

I said goodbye to Keld, thanking him for the wonderful and informative tour of Zagreb highlights. I was off to Pecs, Hungary, working my way to Romania.
